Opening your Crown Chakra

The Crown Chakra is located at the crown, or a little above the top of your head.  This violet chakra is associated with spirituality, divine enlightenment and your imagination.

An unbalanced crown chakra leaves us feeling unconnected spiritually and a feeling of living without a purpose.  When it is blocked, this chakra can cause depression, loss of faith or dementia.  It can also cause sensitivity to light, headaches, autoimmune disorders and poor balance.

There are a few simple techniques that can unblock and balance your crown chakra.  Just like the other chakras, there are mantras, hand poses, yoga poses and diet changes.  The mantra used for your crown chakra is “Ng . While in a meditative state, repeat this mantra 6-10 times.  For the crown chakra hand pose, touch the middle and thumb fingertips together as if making the "OK" sign using your middle finger. Hold the position for 5 minutes.  Yoga poses that are good for your crown chakra are the corpse pose and lotus pose.  And finally, foods that help balance and clear your crown chakra are plums and eggplants.
