The Third Eye

The Third Eye Chakra is located in the center of your brow, just above the middle of your eyes.  This indigo chakra is associated with your intuition, psychic abilities, dreams and your mind.

If this chakra unbalanced, you may feel overwhelmed with thoughts, unable to process them and may feel stuck in a rut.  Our sense of intuition is lost and our judgement is clouded.  We become indecisive and confused easily. Symptoms of a unbalanced third eye are headaches, nightmares and neurological & personality disorders.  We may experience eye and ear problems, as well as a spinal condition and hair issues.

There are a few simple techniques that can unblock and balance your third eye chakra.  Just like the other chakras, there are mantras, hand poses, yoga poses and diet changes.  The mantra used for your third eye chakra is “Ohm” (“o” is pronounced as “oh”).  While in a meditative state, repeat this mantra 6-10 times.  For the third eye chakra hand pose, put the first and second knuckles of each finger together. Reach your thumbs down and press the pads together forming a heart with your two hands. Straighten your middle fingers and touch the tips together, pointing away from your body. Hold the position for 5 minutes.  Yoga poses that are good for your third eye chakra are child’s pose, forward bend pose and easy seat pose. And finally, foods that help balance and clear your third eye chakra are blackberries, purple potatoes (never seen those before) and purple grapes.
