The Calm and Cozy Book of Sleep (A Five Below find)

9/27/2023

This Five Below book was a book I didn’t know I needed until I read it. I have struggled with sleep for years and purchased this book hoping to learn something new. While some information was not new, I did find a lot of the information to be helpful! I now have a new bedtime routine and I am not stressed about sleep when I go to bed. If you struggle with sleep and can find this book at your local Five Below, I highly suggest picking it up.

Anatomy of the Spirit: The Seven Stages of Power and Healing.

I was gifted a Carolinne Myss book and when I started reading it, she mentioned her other book “Anatomy of the Spirit” a few times. I immediately stopped reading my current book to read this book first. You see, I am the type of reader that likes to read the supporting book to the original book. I have now started the original book and I am glad I read “Anatomy of the Spirit” first. Of all the books I have read, this book is my most recommended book. I even purchased this book for a friend and had it shipped to her. My friend was
hooked within the first few pages, just like me!
As I started the book, I knew it was going to change how I viewed my life and my health. The author’s premise of this book is that “biography creates biology”, meaning that our response to the things that happen to us throughout our life could affect our health.
The seven stages are based around the Hindu chakras, the Christian sacraments, and the Kabbalah’s Tree of Life. At the end of each stage, she asks thought provoking questions for self-examination. At the end of the book, she includes a daily meditation for each stage. These meditations are supposed to help you evaluate your health.

Evolution of Goddess by Emma Mildon

If you are looking for a lighter read, this is the book for you! I had so much fun reading this book by the pool last summer. This book is about empowering woman and helping them discover their inner goddess. Emma was able to break down the goddess into five elemental archetypes. She created a questionnaire to help you learn if you are a moon, water, earth, air, or sun goddess. Each section of the archetype includes their personality, retrograde,

mythology, and modalities. After completing the questionnaire, I learned I was both the moon and the earth. One of the best things I discovered in this book was the concept of an individual being in retrograde. That when you are feeling out of sorts and reacting differently, then you are in retrograde. The accuracy of this book is crazy!

Practical Mediumship: A Course In Modern Spiritual Development

I picked up this book because I was struggling with my mediumship capabilities. I knew I was making contact with spirits but needed more guidance on what to do with it. Travis did a wonderful job explaining how mediumship works and what it looks like in a reader/sitter setting. I am the type of person who likes structure, and this book provided me with the tools I need to become a better medium. I had the opportunity to attend Travis’s workshop on mediumship a short time
after I read his book. I would highly recommend reading this book and attending his workshop if you are working on your mediumship skills.

Badass Ancestor by Patti Wigington

I started the Badass Ancestors right after completing Healing Ancestral Karma. As I had previously mentioned, I felt something missing from Steven Farmer’s book, this book helped fill in those blanks. Since I had already started working with ancestors, some of the content was a review. A few highlights are the many pages of information on genealogy plus information for those who have ancestors that were enslaved or were indentured servants. She also wrote about the importance of knowing your ancestors, not just their

name but who they were and what they did. Patti included other types of ancestors such as family, heart, and spiritual ancestors. She also mentions honoring the Forgotten Dead. Patti included rituals and meditations for your ancestors, divination on contacting/working with your ancestors, and creating your ancestor alter (my favorite part). She does touch on connecting with your Archetypal badasses, since I am currently reading another book about our Archetypes; I will go into this further later. This book is small but mighty, I learned A LOT from Patti. I did try one of Patti’s rituals, it took about 3 months to see some results and 18 months to come to full fruition. My suggestion to you is if you are going to partake in a ritual and you write a letter to your ancestors to be burned. Don’t do this on banana paper and attempt to burn this in your bedroom.  No worries disaster was halted quickly.

Healing Ancestral Karma by Steven Farmer

Whether you are just starting out working with your ancestors or you have been working with them for a while, this book is great for helping you with intergenerational healing. This book starts off with the basics on ancestor veneration, the importance of it, and the different cultural views. Steven then takes you through the different ways to contact your ancestors. While the whole book is important, I read this book with part 3 in mind. I wanted to work on healing my family patterns, I did not want those
harmful patterns to be passed on through my descendants. Even though my children are grown, I felt it was not too late to start healing. After I finished the book, I really dug deep into healing my ancestral family patterns using the suggestions in this book. While Steven provides several activities in this book, I was excited about two major activities. One was working on forgiving myself and others and the second was intergenerational healing. For my first activity I decided to go hiking while working through the activity, I won’t go into the nitty gritty of that adventure, but I will provide this advice. Not everyone that I wanted to work with was passed on and I did not want to go to them directly. So, I called upon their higher selves to speak with my higher self. I was able to have the conversations that I needed to have while still maintaining my comfort. After I completed this task, I felt lighter, and I knew I was headed in the right direction. The last activity of the book is the most important, it is the reason why I read this book. Basically, Steven walks you through the steps of calling your ancestors to the room and healing those patterns. Naturally, I modified it slightly by including an ancestor crystal grid and provided Reiki for each of them. I found this book to be very helpful and only found one flaw. Steven focuses a lot on working with your 14 direct ancestors. That was very confining for me. I did read a follow up book that helped me to open to additional ancestors.
